Cate Reviews: SEAL's Lost Dream by JM Madden

Ever since my teenage years when I became addicted to Lindsay McKenna's category romances with SEALs and Marines, I've had a bit of a soft spot for a military romance. I even did one of my own! So when I saw this novel advertised for 99 cents (I think it was that cheap, I try to forget costs!), I really couldn't go past it.

SEALed With A Kiss is a compilation of eight stories about SEALs/Marines, so it's a great way to scratch that military itch.

The eight stories are:

Code of Silence by Marliss Melton

Holding On by Stephanie Tyler

Mutiny's Bounty by Delilah Devlin

Warrior by Gennita Low

Breaking Free by Teresa J Reasor

SEAL's Lost Dream by JM Madden

SEAL My Destiny by Sharon Hamilton

Eight interesting stories but one that's stayed with me—SEAL's Lost Dream.

I'm a dog lover and my two dogs, who were both fifteen years old, died not that long ago. This book is all about dogs, and the bond between people and dogs, so more than a few tears were shed while I read it. It's a really emotional story for animal lovers.

Willow James is a vet, and the hero, Flynn, regularly brings her stray, often badly injured, dogs. Flynn is big, imposing, gruff, silent and mysterious. At the start of the book, he brings in Maya, a starving stray who is skin and bone, with a clasp embedded into the skin of her neck. It's heartbreaking how cruel people can be to animals, but uplifting how incredible the animals are, and that's a strong theme in this book.

Willow has her own dog, Guiness, a stray who she's trained as a search and rescue dog. She encourages Flynn to train Maya too, and so begins the relationship between Willow and Flynn, and Flynn and Maya.

Flynn is a dark, brooding character...who I just loved. He's my perfect hero. Willow is really strong, independent and perfect for Flynn.

This book is a real emotional roller coaster but one that's stayed with me long since reading it.

If you're a bit taken by military stories, you should be able to find something you like in this bunch of eight. Happy reading!
